my own personal parrot

Janelle was very talkative today. She has a habit of throwing objects at me as I drive-shoes, sippy cups, wipes, etc. Today she threw a shoe at me, so I turned around to her and said 'Stop that!'. She threw the other shoe, and again, I turn around to say 'No no no, Janelle!'. She must be very used to hearing these words, because later tonight, she started saying 'No no no! Stop that! Naughty! Quit it!' over and over again. I know she hears what I'm saying...now she just needs to listen ;)

I'm sure my mom is reading this and laughing to herself because I sound just like her.

Oh- another funny copy cat moment. We had gone to the grocery store today to load up m-power (electricity on a pre-paid card instead of a bill). Well, we drive the 5 miles to the pay center, and once I get parked, I realize I forgot the card at home. So under my breath, I habitually whisper 'Shit.' Next thing I know, Janelle is saying 'shit' repeatedly from the back seat. I ignored her as best as I could, but I couldn't help but laugh.

curtains

With all this extra time on my hands, I've found myself doing all those things around my apartment that I wanted to do and never got around to. So, here are the curtains that separate Janelle's room from the living room. I need to find some wire cutters so I can shorten the wire and make it more taught. Other than that minor flaw, I think I did a pretty good job!

swept away

I couldn't resist this $5 broom. Janelle is always trying to steal mine when I'm cleaning...now I can attempt to convince her to help! :)

ditty!!

Well, we finally got our cat, Middie. When I first had Janelle, Middie wanted nothing to do with either of us, but now she has come around and recognizes Janelle as a miniature person and not a crying bundle of blankets and poop. Janelle loves Midd, and chases her all over the apartment! She calls her Ditty, but we are working on saying her name. So far she says 'Minn'. So close! :)

i can't believe she's mine

For all the parents out there... Do you ever look at you little ones and think "I can't believe this lil thing is mine!!"? I remember thinking this about Janelle when she was just born...staring down at the quiet little bundle that would just sleep so quietly in my arms, flinch in her sleep, and open her toothless mouth with each cry. It was so strange for me to accept that just a few weeks prior, that sweet baby was inside growing and kicking my right side and getting the hiccups on a daily basis. Now I look at her and have similar feelings. I love that the little girl who wakes up at night and only wants to be held by her mommy is mine. The girl who sits in my lap and shares my popcorn with me is MY daughter. The 2-year old who says hi to all the strangers in line at the grocery store is my outgoing little princess. She still sleeps quietly, but not as often in my arms. She farts in her sleep more than she flinches now. And when she let's out her cries, she shows a full set of cute little baby teeth- no longer a toothless grin. We are coming up on her 2nd year birthday, and everyday I still look at her and I am so proud that the little critter is actually my offspring!

girls night in

Here is the first decent pic I got of Jani and I in a long time.
We had a good Friday night in. We ate breakfast for dinner, sipped coffee and milk on the patio, and cuddled on the couch.
We hope you all have a great weekend!!
Xoxoxoxoxo.....

no no no no

Here we go again! :) Off, on, off, on!

green or purple?

I held up two shirts yesterday and asked Janelle which one she wanted to wear.
"Green or purple?" I asked.
She replied back, "Pullpull!" So that is what she wore, a pullpull shirt. :)

Last night I thought we would go over colors, so as I pointed to different pieces of laundry, I would say the color of the item, and she would attempt to repeat it. Red sounds like "rehd", yellow came out as "mennow", green was pronounced "dreen", black is "back", and orange and pink didn't even get attempted by miss Janelle.''

We also attempted a few other words. I have some cut out words on the wall in her room that read DREAM, LOVE, SMILE, and I LOVE U. At night when I put her down, I read the words to her and tell her to dream, tell her to love, tell her to smile, and I tell her I love her-- in that order. Well, last night she wanted to say the words too, but they came out much sweeter from her than they ever could from me.

"Dreen I yooo!" she said. (Notice that dream and green have the same translation so far). I'm really enjoying this phase she is going through! As we drive, I find myself turning off the radio and just listening to her have conversations with herself.

Her latest kick is taking her socks and shoes off and putting them on as many times as she can on our ride to and from daycare. As she goes to take her shoes and socks of she says "No no no no no no no", and when she pulls her socks back on, she makes a crazy grunting noise as if the socks are too hard to put on. She's such a character! I don't know where she gets all these weird quirks from ;)

janelle's latest

Janelle likes to play peek-a-boo as we drive in the car. For a while she would cover her eyes and ask "Baby?" Then she would pull her hands from her eyes and say "Boo!" Today as we drove, I heard a new variation.

"Thubboo thubboo!!" I couldn't help but laugh outloud!

I love this girl! She is too much fun!!

more babble!

Well, in just these few short days, Janelle has debuted more and more "words". This list is as follows:

Teese (Teeth)
-not to be confused with-
Teese (Cheese)
Done-done (All done)
Mayee Mayee (Merry Christmas)
Naina (Nainya)
Bananan -or- Nana (Banana)
Gogurr (Gogurt)
Cookie Mon (Cookie Monster)
UH-UH! (said as if there is NO WAY she will do whatever you just asked her)

I'm sure the list will grow... I will add them as I hear them!

babble

Janelle has been spitting out nonsensical sentances for the past few months, and just recently saying them more and more often. Most everything she says is not of the English language, so when she would shout something at me I would usually just say "Ooooh! Yeah?".

Although her sentances are not clear yet, she is getting to the point where some of her words come out more clear than others. For instance, when I picked her up from daycare last night, she reached for the door and said something that sounded like "Are you coming with?" Nainya and I both looked at each other and she asked "Did that sound like 'Are you coming with?' to you, too?" At least it's not just me who can hear it. :)

Some other common phrases Janelle has been using are:
"Sherr shurr shoe?" (Where are your shoes?)
"Nigh nigh mommy" (Night night mommy)
"Daint doo" (Thank you)
"I (crosses arms) doo!" ( I {love} you!)
"Twoooo, Twooo, Teeee!" (One (or two), two, three!)
"Bainty" (Blankie)
"Betty butty butty" (Bellybutton)
"Duute!" (Cute!)
"Boooor" (Burrrr)
"Eyes" (as she pokes your eyes)
"Nose" (as she presses your nose)
"Bum bum"
"Buh-bye?"
"Danta!" (Santa!)
"Ho ho ho!"
"Mooooooe" (Moo)
"Doggie"
"Ditty" (Kitty)
"Mew"
"Buh buh bahh" (Bubble bath)
"Petty" (Pretty)

This is just a short list....I can't wait to hear what other words come out of her mouth!

There are a few words I am a little worried about... those damn cusswords! Hahaha! Nainya told me that Janelle called her son a dipshit the other day. :) Haha! Please, don't assume it is only me teaching her these words. Yes, I admit I am guilty, but she heard that particular phrase at daycare, then repeated it! That one is NOT my fault!

:D
